Synchronicity – The Golden Beetle

A lady was visiting Carl Jung on a regular basis for therapy. She was very resistant to treatment and Jung was getting nowhere. One day she told of a vivid dream where she was presented with a golden scarab (beetle). While she spoke, there was a tapping noise on the window behind Jung. It was a flying insect and he went to the window and opened it to shoo it away but the bug flew in and Jung caught it. It was a Scarab beetle like the one in the lady’s dream. Her dream suddenly becoming reality shocked her into opening up to Jung.

Jung called coincidences like this ‘synchronicity’. At the root of that synchronicity is a part of our inner being that has a connection to reality. Jung called this inner connection ‘collective unconscious’, a subconscious universal web that binds us together with each other and all of creation near and far.

This subconscious is the quiet place within our being where ‘prayer’ or hope exists. Like the lady’s unconscious dream of the beetle becoming a life changing reality, our unconscious being’s wish for the well-being of our Japanese brothers and sisters will manifest in life restoring reality.

The Japanese disasters are becoming old news fast and the world is moving on but they still need our help, physical and Spiritual. Donating money for their physical needs is easy and many of us have given. However, they need something more basic too. I suggest giving them a Spiritual boost that will bolster them as they help themselves.

Try this: Go to that small, quiet place within (it’s that place you go when someone or something you love deeply is threatened); call up an image of the damaged people and buildings in Japan; concentrate your positive energy on that image for as long as you can. It will make a difference and if millions of us try, it will make a miraculous difference. We are all connected. We are all one.

    Love the Jung connection.

While I’m not a big believer in the power of positive thinking working on anything but your own health and well-being, I suppose it couldn’t hurt to try.
